Traveling, Partying and Exploring the Olympic area

(arranged in reverse chronological order for the time being at least)

Driving through Provo, Park City and SLC - Feb. 27 - Just checking out the aftermath and whatnot on the way to Logan.

Dave's trip to Sundance, etc. - Feb. 26 - Skiing at Sundance, full-moon hiking to Diamond Fork Hot-springs and staying at Hoppy's cabin.

Driving from SLC to Logan - Feb. 25 - stopping by the Gateway plaza and legacy brick plaza.

The Thuringen House night 2 - Feb. 24 - We visited this excellent hospitality house twice, rocked out to Acoustica, dined on bratwurst and sauerkraut and imbibed tasty German beverages.

Gold Medal Hockey - Feb. 24 - We weren't at the game but the next best place was "The Puck", a bar dang near next door to the E Center filled with partying fans.

Thuringen House 1st night - Feb. 23 - This former East German province of Thuringen produced a disproportionate number of Germany's first-place overall Olympic team - several athletes were celebrating were partying here to the rockin-stylins of Acoustica.

City County building - Feb. 23 - Downtown SLC festival with exhibits, mountain man rendezvous, bands and Dutch oven cooking.

There is a "Western Experience Village", plus dancers and exhibits. A fine race as well featuring racers from Cameroon, Costa Rica, Nepal and Kenya besides the German-born Spaniard and the 2 Norwegians who medaled.

Went to the early-morning 120K Ski Jump finals today and it was incredible! no pics though. Here's a few from the Awards ceremony in the evening, Bare Naked Ladies played afterwards and provided some fine Canadian atmosphere.

Downtown SLC -- Feb. 7
The night before opening ceremonies, Dane and us went downtown to check stuff out. Lots of fences, sandbags, pylons, tents, rent-a-cops etc. Giant building wraps were best part.
